Born in October 1962, Yongquan Chen received his Bachelor's degree in Biology from Fudan University in 1982 and his Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium, in 1989. From 1990 to 1993, he conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Wayne State University, USA. He then served as an Assistant Professor (1993-1997) and Associate Professor (1998-2001) in the Department of Pathology. From 2002 to 2012, he worked at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in the USA, where he was promoted to Full Professor with tenure in 2005. In 2012, he returned to China to establish the Food and Health Research Center at the School of Food Science, Jiangnan University. From 2015 to 2020, he served as the Dean of Wuxi Medical School at Jiangnan University. Currently, he is the Dean of the School of Translational Medicine at Jiangnan University and the Director of the Wuxi Center for Translational Medicine. Professor Chen has dedicated his research to the study of lipid and glucose metabolism and the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. His primary research interests include the relationship and mechanisms between lipid metabolism and cancer, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). He has published over 275 papers in international core journals, with more than 8000 citations and an H-index of 54. He holds 32 authorized patents. As a conference chair or session chair, he has organized or participated in 21 international conferences, delivered 82 keynote and invited presentations, and served as an editor and reviewer for 44 English-language journals. He is also a member of review panels for over 100 funding agencies including NIH, DOD, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Since 2003, he has led 37 research projects with total funding exceeding 40 million USD, of which he was the Principal Investigator for projects amounting to over 20 million USD. |
