The Clinical Medicine at Jiangnan University was established in June 2012. It comprises 19 teaching and research offices and one Clinical Skills and Patient Simulation Center, which collectively cover 20 clinical medicine disciplines, offering a comprehensive range of specialties. In 2020, the Clinical Medicine discipline was recognized as a national-level first-class undergraduate program and became the first batch of National Standardized Residency Training Bases. In 2018, the Clinical Medicine entered the top 1% in the ESI global rankings, and in 2023, it further improved to the top 0.38%.
The Clinical Medicine offers a first-class master's degree program in Clinical Medicine (both academic and professional), with 753 students enrolled since 2012. The discipline currently has 539 full-time faculty members, including 109 professors, 157 associate professors, and 273 lecturers. It boasts 34 doctoral advisors and 287 master's advisors, with seven faculty members recognized at the national level and 127 at the provincial level for their achievements.
The Clinical Medicine is characterized by its strengths and distinctiveness. It builds on a foundation of trauma care, with a joint National Trauma Regional Medical Center, an Education Ministry Engineering Research Center for Wound Repair Technology, and the National Emergency Medicine Research Center in Wuxi. In response to the country's significant medical needs, the discipline has established specialty fields in burn trauma, critical care medicine, and various surgical disciplines. In recent years, the Clinical Medicine discipline at Jiangnan University has played a leading role in the response to major accidents. The discipline's research achievements have earned it recognition with awards such as the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education's Scientific and Technological Progress, the First Prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award and the Young Scientist Award and so on. The discipline consistently adheres to the concept of "building on strengths and addressing weaknesses," with the development of high-profile disciplines driving the establishment of specialty discipline clusters, fostering the overall high-quality development of the Clinical Medicine discipline.
