Basic Medicine of Jiangnan University was established in June 2012. This discipline comprises nine teaching and research offices, a Medical Research Center and a Basic Medicine Experimental Teaching Center, which help the Clinical Medicine major obtain national-level first-class undergraduate programs and the Nursing major in obtaining provincial-level first-class undergraduate construction programs.
It offers a first-level master’s program in Basic Medicine, a second-level master’s program in Pharmacology, and a second-level doctoral program in Foodborne Chronic Diseases. It began admitting postgraduate students in 2013 and doctoral students in 2019. So far, it has trained 99 masters and 60 doctors. Its Clinical Medicine’s ESI global ranking entered the top 0.38% and that of Pharmacology and Toxicology entered the top 1%. The Basic Medicine currently has 102 full-time faculty members, including 30 professors, 50 associate professors, 22 lecturers, 19 doctoral supervisors and 48 master’s supervisors. Eight members are national-level talents, including recipients of the National Science Foundation for Distinguished and for Outstanding Young Scholars, and 42 members are provincial-level talents in Jiangsu Province, including outstanding young scholars and distinguished professors in Jiangsu.
